Finally Friday Night: Breakfast at Tiffany's

At the end of the week, I won't lie, I tend to be quite exhausted. Friday nights are generally lazier nights for me- you can ask L about that one, I have a tendency to fall asleep during movies if we go out or even watch on at the house on Friday nights. That being said, this week is no different. It was a little difficult to get back on the work schedule after the week before off for spring break, so I have had a few moments of naps throughout the week, let alone an early night here or there.

Tonight is not much different, except I'm going to watch one of the best movies ever, in my opinion, "Breakfast at Tiffany's". I love the time period in which it was filmed, along with Audrey Hepburn (of course) and the complex character that is Holly Golightly.

My favorite of the classic photos from the film

Another part of the film that I really enjoy, as you can probably guess, is the styling throughout. Audrey had an iconic style all her own & the character of Holly is not much different. From the classic black gown that is pictured above and worn from nights out to visiting a prison, the adorable hair wrap and casual look as she's singing "Moon River" on the window sill and my favorite hairstyle ever- the "classy pigtails", as I call them, and no-nonsense classic looks towards the end of the film, the style is very inspiring. I love that it speaks to the ability to be simple while also being very classy & expressive through aspects beyond your clothing- make up, hair, accessories, smiles, it all tells people who you are when it comes down to it- and Holly is a great example that tells us this.

Classy Pigtails

So, I guess I should probably go start the movie before I fall asleep, but I also wanted to share one more thing with you all....you just know I've gotten a picture that's my Breakfast at Tiffany's picture, right? Of course. Gotta love walking around downtown & finding cool older spots like this post Sunday brunch.

I'd just eaten pie at Fork & Pie, so I wasn't missing the donut

Is Breakfast at Tiffany's one of your favorite films?

  1. When I was 19, I read the novella before watching the movie, and I was SO confused. Have you read it? It's SO different from the movie! I kept thinking, "Doesn't the director know this is supposed to be a sort of sad story about a pair of prostitutes?"

But yes, everything about the style in that movie is lovely. So tailored, and intentional, and classy! I'd forgotten about the "classy pigtails," but now I feel MUCH better about being a 30something year old woman who STILL rocks the pigtails. :D
